Well, an extensive property of matter is one that depends on the amount of matter present. A good example to highlight this would be heat capacity. As the heat capacity of a system is different for different amounts of matter present in the system, it in an extensive property. On the other hand, the specific heat capacity, which is measured per kg, is an intensive property of matter as it does not depend on the amount stuff present ( calculated per kg)
