Okay, the dot product is the sum of the products of individual components. While that might be hard to digest, in this case, it's... first times first PLUS middle times middle PLUS last times last. So it's 2x4 + 3x-1 + 0x8 8 + (-3) + 0 = 5 Got it? :)
