Well ...there are 4 quarts in a gallon....so we can start with that 3.5 qts = 1 gallon ------- 4 quarts So you would divide 3.5 by 4...this is how many gallons you have. But this...is gallons per minute...you want gallons per hour .875 gallons/min = 60 minutes -------- 1 hour Meaning you would multiply .875 by 60...to get how many gallons per hour Makes sense right? you do THIS many gallons in a minute....so you multiply by 60 minutes to see how many you do in an hour! understandable?
