I didn't response to problem 1.2 because it wasn't asked appropriately. I gave example of how should ask questions to get answers.

Produced Rule - R1||R2 = R!R2/(R!+R2)
I prefer to leave in original form(short hand) until entire circuit is analyzed. Also in the case where R2 has a factor R1
R1||aR1 = R1(1||a) = R1 a/(1+a)
This should help in solving problem 1.2

in F1 parallel resistor value is 1.5 which is in series with 1st resitor and parallel to last one.. solve this u get 3/5

similar concept in F2 solve box resistor then seris with outer resistor
