Determine the maximum of zeros of the polynomial function: -9x^2+2x+2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Before I give any hints, what do you think it could be? Is there away to at least find some roots for this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it can be either 3 or 4 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why would you say that? Also, do you know about the Quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look do you know the answer because im really running out of time ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I do, but I will not (nor will anyone else) just give you the answer. I'm here to try and help you understand how to get it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand that. But I think I have the answer , its 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes that is correct. All polynomials have as many roots that correspond to the highest degree in the polynomial.
