A). the area of the  whole figure = (x+3+4)(x+1+4) = (x+7)(x+5)

B).  the area of the  pond =(x+3)(x+1)

C).  the area of just the garden = the whole - area of pond
=  (x+7)(x+5) - (x+3)(x+1)
= x^2 + 12x + 35 - (x^2 + 4x + 3)
= x^2 + 12x + 35 - x^2 - 4x - 3
= 8x + 32
