OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Perpendicular lines have opposite slopes. so a line such as \[y=mx+b\] will have an opposite slope such as \[y=-\frac{ 1 }{ m }x+b\]

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

And that second line will be the line perpendicular to the original.

OpenStudy (dan815):

no its wrong

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

So your answer is correct but you're missing the variable. there, it should read \[y=-\frac{ 1 }{ 2}x-7\]
