Which of the following statements about f(x) is true?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

We need the conditions :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The graph is of e^x +1. What are the statements?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

@kutabs don't be so conclusive..........it can be anything^ anything +1

nvm that question i got it i have a new one

The size of the rainforest in El Salvador is currently decreasing at a rate of 30% per year. The amount of rainforest in El Salvador t years from now is given by the equation F = F0(1 + r)t, where F is the the amount of rainforest remaining t years from now, F0 is the current amount of rainforest, and r is the rate at which the rainforest is changing. If there are currently 170,000 square miles of rainforest in El Salvador, about how many square miles of rainforest will there be in 2 years?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

I believe actually since this is exponential DECAY that should be \[F = Fo (1-r)^t\] you have Fo...= 170000 You have r...= .30 You have t...= 2 years So plug all those in and what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

83300?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

That is what I got!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay thank you! could you help me some more?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

If I'm able to... sure

The size of the rainforest in El Salvador is currently decreasing at a rate of 60% per year. The amount of rainforest in El Salvador t years from now is given by the equation F = F0(1 + r)t, where F is the the amount of rainforest remaining t years from now, F0 is the current amount of rainforest, and r is the rate at which the rainforest is changing. If there are currently 290,000 square miles of rainforest in El Salvador, about how many square miles of rainforest will there be in 4 years?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Same exact thing right? F = Fo(1-r)^t just replace your 'Fo' from before...with 290000.....replace your 't' from before...with 4 now......and replace your 'r' from before...with .60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7424?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

correct again!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my choices are 226,000 B. 7,000 C. 17,000 D. 283,000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then would i just go with 7000?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

well since the question does say "ABOUT" yeah I'd go with 7000
