Help @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

it might be best to draw it out or to use MS paint or something but what you want to do is extend the line as far as you can to the right

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

then see which point is on the graph when x = 5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

does that make sense?

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

but how would i know ? since the points dont have a pattern

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're basing it off the line of best fit

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

since that's a close approximation

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

hmmmm im a little confused :p

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok I copied your image and I opened it in paint then I drew a red line over the current black line and extended it (see pic)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

based on your best guess, and using the graph I just posted, what is the y coordinate of the point on the red line when x = 5

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

49 ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that or 48, that's pretty close and you could argue either way

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

unfortunately there are no choices to choose from (or eliminate) and it's a fill in the blank...hopefully they'll allow some wiggle room

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

what should i put ? 49 or 48 ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'll leave it up to you, either one works in my opinion since this is educated guesswork anyway

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

and the system isn't providing answer choices...so maybe there are multiple correct possible answers to enter

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

ok thank you

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yw

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if you get it wrong, you can just tell the teacher and I'm sure s/he will give you some points because you were close and because the computer is picky
