I locked my BIOS with a password to avoid misconfiguration, incidentally I forgot the password and I can't access to change my OS. How can I unlock it?

Some manufacturers also implement a backdoor password wich will always work.
Could you tell me the manufacturere who made your BIOS chip?

Desktop: Reset password jumper.
Laptop: In anything made within the last 12 years, it usually requires a special dongle and/or software. Laptop manufacturers went to this because of peoblems with laptop theft. The registered owner of the laptop can get it serviced to have the password reset, but they do not deal with anyone else.
