What is the answer of the energy problem asked by Mr Walter Lewin at the end of his 8th lecture(the last few minutes) in "Vibrations and waves" taught by him in 2004.

I thought it like this :
The formulas used were for "Mechanical waves on strings". While u=0 means vaccum where mechanical waves cannot propagate.

Any better explanation.
