what is the difference between an enlargement and a reduction

OpenStudy (rajee_sam):

enlargement the scale factor will be a whole number and for reduction the scale factor will be a fraction

OpenStudy (lazyboy):

Enlargement and reduction both depend on the scale factor. For any scale greater that 1, the output would be an enlargement, or larger size output. For any scale less than 1(such as 1/2 or .25) the output would be a reduction, or lesser size output.
