Pleaseeeee Help! Use the figure below: Assume that the 3 x 5.5 m rectangles on the right and left are the bases. 1. What is the surface area of the prism? 2. What is the lateral surface area of the prism?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, you have 2 endpoints, one of the left and one on the right, they're both 2 rectangles, 3x5.5 each, so you add those then you have 4 longer faces, the lateral ones, 2 of them are 17.2x3 [horizontal ones] the other 2 [vertical ones] are 17.2x5.5 so you add those too, and you get the SURFACE area :)

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

now, the "lateral" surface, well, that's just the value of adding the longer sides, the ones facing horizontally and the other 2 facing vertically :)

Thank you!
