6x+ 1/3x is this a polynomial or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there more than one nomial? :) If there's more than one term, it's a polynomial.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One term, monomial, two is a binomial, and three is a trinomial. 6x is one term, and 1/3x is another.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that depends on whether it is \[6x+\frac{1}{3}x\] in which case the answer is "yes" or \[6x+\frac{1}{3x}\] in which case "NO"

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

1/(3x) is not a polynomial. (1/3)x is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good catch :) I just assumed it was (1/3)x
