If I'm to determine the equation for a plane that passes through the origin and is parallel to 7x+4y-2z+3=0, I plug (0,0,0) into 7x+4y-2z=d not so? That does not make too much sence to me or am I missing something?

OpenStudy (loser66):

yes, it makes sense to me, because when you plug (0,0,0) into that equation, you find out d, and that d =0, it means your required plane has equation 7x +4y -2z = 0 which is parallel to the plane 7x +4y -2z = -3 they have the same normal vector (7, 4,-2) just different at d. |dw:1369659850445:dw|

affine vs linear ... think of an affine as a linear plus a constant

@dan815 I don't understand what amistre64 said, dan

OpenStudy (amistre64):

none of us do :)

OpenStudy (loser66):

hahaha, what do you mean? you mean you don't understand your sentence?

OpenStudy (loser66):

hi Hero!! you give me medal? it means I am right?

hero (hero):

It makes sense and you explained it well enough for the user to understand.

OpenStudy (loser66):

thank you.
