inequality question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think number one is B and number 5 is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

other then that no idea

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

for the second one.. you can write.. 3x-3=6 and 3x-3=-6.. so this gives you 3 and -1.. so A.

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

and you're right with 1st and 5th..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay cool

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

for the 4th.. |4-x|>=1 .. so basically 4-x lies between (inf,-1] U [1,inf) .. you understand that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mmmm kindda

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be E?

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

Should be D.. look.. put 3 in |4-x|>=1 .. whats the answer? 1.. put 5.. again 1.. satisfies.. put 4.. answer is 0.. so it doesnt satisfy..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh i see it now :) thanks a lot!

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

so as we have exhausted all our options.. 3 should be E.. but i dont think it is E.. put 2.. answer is 1.. doesnt satisfy. :o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha kk

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

yeah.. so it should be (-inf, -1] U [5,inf)..
