solve: tan^4x - 1=0

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Have you considered factoring the difference of squares?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have but then i get something really messed up....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is easy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nevermind i got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your a genious

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(\tan ^{2}x-1)(\tan ^{2}x+1)\] =\[(tanx-1)(tanx+1)(\tan ^{2}+1)\] now tan^2x+1 can never be negetive so either tanx=1 or tanx=-1 which is possible only if x=pi/4or 3pi/4 in the interval of o to pi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i forgot to equate these with zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know most girls are not good in math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow stereotypical much?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

do you know most guys are not good at anything else :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol thats true :P

OpenStudy (tkhunny):
