Suppose that x and y vary inversely. Write a function rule for the function that x = 9 when y = 4.

In this problem you have to solve for k in the equation xy=k, where k is a constant variation we know x=9 and y=4 so xy=(9)(4)=36. k is 36 now lets prove that x and y are inverses of each other form the eq now solve for y and you get \[y=\frac{ k }{ x }=\frac{ 36 }{ 9 }=4\] you have now written a function rule that x=9 when y=4
