what do scientists mean by a living thing's "genetic code"?

Think about the alphabet. Theres about 26 different letters in the English language. Lets assume you can combine 3 different letters to make a word/sequence/combination/ or as scientists say "code". Lets assume the "code' to make a monkey is T-B-C. That combination of the letters T, B and C would be the monkeys "code". Lets assume again and say the cheetahs code is Z-Z-N. Thats his code. Now a gorilla: B-C-K. Thats his code. As you see, we can combine the letters of the alphabet in a billion other ways. Well the same applies for people. Every person is different in height, hair color, face shape, etc because their "code" is different. Hope that helps...
