True or false?! The formula for a z-score is z= (x+u)/o , where x is the value, u is the mean, and o is the standard deviation.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

false, the formula is actually z = (x - mu)/sigma since you're basically finding the distance from the mean...but you're scaling it by sigma (in a way) to see how far you are from the mean in terms of sigma

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so if you had z= (x-u)/o then it would be true
