Factor -5x^2-9x=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you find your gcf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have forgotten I need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not going to give you th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the bcc x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gretest common factor is x yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so oyu put that up front

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it should look like this \[x(-5x-9)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you set both the x and the 5x-9 equal to zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now I have done what you have told me but I Don't understand how I could musket equal to 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=0 5x-9=0

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

note we want to factor things a*b = 2 has infinite solutions for a and b a = 4 b = 1/2 a = 8 b = 1/4 but a*b = 0 has ONLY three solutions a = 0 b = 0 or both a and b = 0 this is why we factor these things as we do.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ur going to confuse him/her

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Preach it!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but now u find x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So after I have the equation you have above I solve for X

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep
