A germ cell of an organism has 60 chromosomes in it. It undergoes meiosis, and at the end it produces four daughter cells. What is the number of chromosomes in each of these daughter cells? would i divide 60 by 4 making it 15 in each?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

each daughter cell will have 30 chromosomes. Hypothetically speaking when that germ cell has sex with another germ cell, each germ cell will contribute 30 chromosomes, to make one new germ cell with its complete set of 60 chromosomes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you that makes sense :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 30?

OpenStudy (muhammad12):

yes 30
