Use law of cosines

okay! :) so is this right? 7^2 + 4^2 - 5.3^2 / 2(7)(4) = 49+16-28.09 / 56 = 36.91/56 = .6591071429 and i take the inverse cosine right? so i got 48.76818607 so this is TRUE right? :)

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2ab cos C 5.3^2 = 4^2 + 7^2 - 2(4)(7) cos C (5.3^2 - 16 - 49) / [(-2)(4)(7)] = cos C C = 48.768... You are correct.
