umm..i may not be correct but still see..we have to find \[V _{X}-V _{Y}\] now it can be written as \[(V _{P}-V _{X})-(V _{P}-V _{Y}) \].. so jus find out potential diff. across 500 and 2000 ohm resistors..and put in the values... you can also do it by or \[(V _{X}-V _{Q})-(V _{Y}-V _{Q})\]..where you have to find the p.d across the two 1000 ohm resistors and put the values to get the answer..
