a collector of scale models of ships wants to know the lenght of a 1over50 scale model of a ship that was 150 feet in lenght, find the length of the scale model?

Well, if the scale is \(\frac{1}{50}\) or 1:50, that means a feature which is 50 units long on the original is 1 unit long on the model. Use that to set up a proportion to find the length of the model.
