A man throws a football straight into the air. As it rises, it slows down. Which type of energy is the football gaining?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Moving air, also known as wind, has mechanical energy (in the form of kinetic energy). This can be harnessed in wind farms to produce non-mechanical energy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Potential energy. As the ball rises up, it's height from the surface of earth increases. Potential energy=mgh (where, h=the height).

@lisalaskyra : That is different. Here the question asks what type of energy the FOOTBALL is gaining?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is gaining potential energy which vill convert back into kinetic energy when it will fall
