Need help with basic algebra

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ x }{ 6 }-12=\frac{ x }{ 6 }\] I don't know how to do this at all I am in a summer class that moves real fast. Can you please explain WHY you do whatever you do so that I can understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jeez what an annoying question no matter what \(x\) is, it is the same number in both places there is no way you can subtract 12 from a number, and get the same number back so there is no answer to this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer choices are all real numbers and no solution. You are saying it is no solution, but can you explain why? I am new in college and am 35 years old don't remember any of this.
