OpenStudy (anonymous):

The position of an object at time t is given by s(t) = -9 - 3t. Find the instantaneous velocity at t = 8 by finding the derivative.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Kind of odd seeing as how the derivative would be a constant number but can you find the derivative of this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how, the wording confuses me

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is the derivative of: -9-3t ?

OpenStudy (rajee_sam):

Velocity is rate of change of distance. rate of change is given by the first derivative of the quantity. Rate of change of distance is first derivative of the distance. So if you find ds/dt that will be your velocity
