OpenStudy (xmoses1):

Are The following lines parallel?? 2x + 2y = 4 and y = -x + 5

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

factor the 1st one, what do you get?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

factor it and solve it for "y" :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simply solve for y on the first by moving the x and then dividing off the two. Then compare the slopes. The two values must be the same in order for them to be parallel.
