What happens during gene expression

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are a few points of control that help regulate gene expression. First, DNA must be transcribed into mRNA. A strong promotor sequence and the presence of transcription factors help recruit RNA Polymerase to the transcriptional start site and facilitates a gene's transcription. Conversely, a weak promotor sequence and the presence of transcriptional repressors will prevent RNA Polymerase from interacting with the region of DNA that contains the gene of interest and transcription is inhibited. Next, the mRNA strand is translated from mRNA into protein. So DNA -> mRNA -> protein
