yes but im still running into a problem somewhere, im so confused and have been trying to solve this one question for like an hour, please help me!

notice that the two triangles are similar, so you can set up ratio = ratio short leg/ long leg = short leg/ long leg

the big triangle has sides 12 times bigger than the smaller triangle (because 7*12 = 84... and you know the triangles are similar ... they have equal angles) that means you know the x side of the small triangle times 12 equals the 156-x leg of the big triangle. can you write down the equation ?

i think i've solved that so far, i came up with 12*

12x= 156-x add x to both sides 12x + x = 156 - x + x 12 x's plus 1 more x is 13 x's 13 x = 156 -x + x -x + x is 0 13 x= 156 divide both sides by 13 to solve: 13x/13 = 156/13 13/13 = 1 so 13x/13 is the same as x*1= x x= 156/13

@surjithayer the angles at point C are marked to show they are congruent. Also, the right angles are congruent.
