The mean weight of four members of the wrestling team is 180 pounds. If three of them have weights of 165, 203, and 189 pounds, then what does the fourth wrestler weigh?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

there is a simple enough formula for calculating a "mean", do you recall what it is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\mu = \frac{\sum_{i=0}^{n} a_{i} }{n}\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i=1, but yeah if i starts at 0, then we have n-1 elements of the set

I was going out on a limb, I'm still bad with my series and summations and such.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it was a good limb :) just to point out: 1 2 3 4 5 , has 5 elements 0 1 2 3 4 , has 5 elements

OpenStudy (amistre64):

looks like, if i=0 to n, then n+1 elements
