Describe the asymptotes and discontinuities of: (x-2)(x+1)/(x+1)(x-3).

OpenStudy (zpupster):

wherever the denominator = 0 is a discontinuity in our example x+1 cancels from num. and denom. we are left with ( x-2)/(x-3) x= 3 is our vertical asymptote and as x grows to a very very big number the equation goes to x/x or 1 so 1 is our horizontal asymptote
