how i tell if the function y = 2x/x+5 is decreasing or increasing

OpenStudy (abb0t):

punch in your calculator the function and it will graph it for you

OpenStudy (abb0t):

What kind of calculator are you using? I am best with TI-83 and TI-84.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got tl 83

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a/s/l?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Anyblaze, to see if your function is increasing or decreasing, you'll need to find the derivative of the function. Then, find your zero's.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

determine where the derivative is positive and where it’s negative.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

You should be very familiar with that as it's assumed that you've done this prior to analyzing graphs of functions.
