PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! A circle is tangent to the x-axis at (5,0) and y-axis at (0,-5). Find its equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where would the center have to be?

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

Try drawing a diagram.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The picture is the trick. A rough sketch would do the job. Once you have the center, you have a formula that can be filled in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My problem is I do not know how to sketch it. I am so lost in pre-calc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Draw xy axes. Plot the two points of tangency. Those points are at the ends of radii of the circle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh thank you!! I get it from here!

Pictures tell so much.
