Write the coordinates of the image after a translation 3 units right and 2 units down.

OpenStudy (raden):

if a point A(x,y) with a translation 3 units right and 2 units down, then the image coordinat becomes A'(x+3, y-2) according your diagram, known : if A(-4,-4) ----> then A'(-4+3, -4-2) = (-1, -6) do same idea for points : B(-4,0) then B' = ... ? C(-4,-1) then C' = ... ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it has to be in 2 rows and 3 collums

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@RadEn im confused, howd you get A'(-4+3, -4-2) = (-1, -6)?

OpenStudy (loser66):

@RadEn is it not -3 when we move the point to the right 3 units? or am I wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, no, okay well then if its not then then this would be it ??

OpenStudy (loser66):

hold on, I need others confirm the right transformation first, because they lead to different answer. @tcarroll010

@terenzreignz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

? huh

OpenStudy (raden):

this is just translation for the point, not a function. therefore, notice that adding a negative value (subtraction), moves the image left and/or down, while adding a positive value moves the image right and/or up.)

OpenStudy (raden):

please, check this site : http://www.regentsprep.org/Regents/math/geometry/GT2/Trans.htm

OpenStudy (loser66):

yes, thanks for the link @RadEn. I confused between the function and the point. my bad.

OpenStudy (raden):

no problem :)
