In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, where is Huck once he leaves home at the beginning of the novel?

Here is a hint - READ THE BOOK! In the beginning of the book it "appears" as if he is killed by his pap and runs away. The first place he goes is into the woods where he is "reunited" with a fellow named Jim who is a black slave.
