Explain how you can determine the direction of a magnetic field produced by a wire if you know the direction of the current through the wire

Use the right hand corkscrew rule. Or the thumb rule. You can either point your thumb in the direction of the current and the way your fingers curl in will be the direction of the Bfield or make a clockwise motion with a finger (like you where turning a corckscrew) while moving in the direction of the current.
