CHECK OUT ATTACHMENT 72 + 72 = 144 180 - 144 = 36 am I correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

No. Set up an equation: 2y + 72 = 180 (Just wondering, are you taught algebra at school?)

OpenStudy (phi):

there is only 1 72 you have 72 + y +y = 180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I take online classes, Therefore I have to learn on my own, or get some help

OpenStudy (phi):

you have 72 + y +y = 180 to find y, add -72 to both sides -72+72 + y + y = 180 -72 can you finish ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@phi 252 - 144 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 108!

OpenStudy (phi):

after -72+72 + y + y = 180 -72 you can simplify. on the left side -72 + 72 is 0 0 + y + y= 180-72 on the right side 180-72 is 108. you have (so far) y + y = 108 or 2y = 108 divide both sides by 2 to find y 2y/2 = 108/2 y = ?

OpenStudy (phi):

you can check your answer by adding up all 3 angles (after you find out what y is) they have to add up to 180 if you got the correct number for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay 108/2=54

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for taking your time to teach me

OpenStudy (phi):

now check the answer. replace y with 54. the 3 angles in a triangle add up to 180 72 + 54 +54 = ? 180! it worked.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) yes it adds up to 180
