Graph the system of inequalities on your own paper. Please provide only one ordered pair (x, y) that will work for this system of inequalities. y>3x+1 and y<=-2/3x+4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need steps for proving the answer by substituting the (x, y) order pair into both inequalities. :c @Mertsj @damien

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Did you graph the system as the instructions say?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. I don't know how to turn the equations around. i just dont know what to do with them @Mertsj

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Do you know how to graph a line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So for y>3x+1, graph the line y=3x+1 and make the line dotted.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does the inequality sign just turn into an equal sign still be dotted and shading above or below?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

It says y is greater than so shade above the line.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

For the second one, the line will be solid and you will shade below the line because it says y is less than or equal to.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Uhuh, you asked me if i knew how to graph and i said yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it possible for you to give me an answer? s: I have less than 10 mins to do this. @Mertsj

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So now that you have them graphed, just pick a point in the shaded region. It will make both sentences true.
