which system controls and helps maintain homeostasis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

endocrine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is a weird question. All of our body systems help us maintain homeostasis, in one way or another.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

^ i agree. But i'd say one that is actively controlling it through continuous feedback would be the central nervous system.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

or specifically, the autonomous nervous system

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right, it's all in the brain. Good point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, if you look at the definition of homeostasis (the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes) you'll see that it's all psychological... well especially maintained through psychological means. Basically your mind haha :P so just by that, you can figure out your answer... or at least narrow it down! :) So I agree with both @aaronq and @InYourHead :) sometimes all you need is the definition! :)
