The significance of the title "was it a dream" implies many different  scenarios a story could be about. It could be the title of a magnificent love story one dreams but thought it was real. It could be the title of a better life one finally gains after a long period of a harsh and bitter life, and one refers to the saying "pinch me, I think i might be dreaming."  It could also mean someone's nightmear that comes to life and they want it to be a dream. 

The title of "Was It a Dream" can mean an abundance of things. The significance of the title is that, there can be a hidden message within it. You won't really know what the story is about until you read it. It could really grab someone's attention and pull them into the reading.
