can someone help me please
use formulas to find the lateral area and surface area of the given prism. 472,486 443, 486 472, 479 443, 500
The surface area is achieved by taking apart the figure and finding individual areas then adding them together. Do you know formulas for areas of rectangles and triangles?
for surface area?
Right.
lateral area is 472 not sure what the surface area is
whats the formula for these @mrbarry
Lateral area is like surface area, but we exclude the areas of the bases. Isn't that what you did Kitta? area (rectangle) = L x W area (triangle) = (1/2) x b x h
okay now how do I know whats the base? and whats the height?
The bases would seem to be the triangles. For these triangles the base/"bottom" would seem to be 7. Would you agree?
its c
I got something different. What did you get for each piece?
For your potential answers, are those ranges, hundred thousands, what?
Or is that one list for lateral area and one list for surface area?
One is LA and one is SA
Ah, can one assume they are dropping the decimals?
Assuming yes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lateral surface area (L) = Ph = (s1 + s2 + s3)h Area of the base (B) = 1/2 * a * b Surface Area of Prism = (s1 + s2 + s3)h + 2(1/2)*a*b) = Ph + ab ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ph = (2 + 7 + 7.28)*29 Ph = 16.28*29 Ph=472.12 Round Ph = 472 Lateral area = 472 Area of the base (B) = 1/2 * 2 * 7 B = 1/2*14 B = 7 Surface Area of Prism = (2 + 7 + 7.28)29 + 2(1/2)*2*7) = 472 + 7 So Surface Area = 472 + 7 = 479 So liek said above C.
like* excuse my typing.
2*(1/2)*2*7 = 1 * 2 * 7 = 14
@mrbarry Thank you for noticing that slight mistake! Sorry misread my own work. Hahaa. Surface Area of Prism = (2 + 7 + 7.28)29 + 2(1/2)*2*7) = 472 + 14 So Surface Area = 472 + 14 = 486 So actually A!
