shiny, shiny medals up for grabs...?

OpenStudy (jack1):

disk moving: priests transfer a tower consisting of 64 fragile disks of gold from one part of the temple to another, one disk at a time. The disks are arranged in order, no two of them the same size, with the largest on the bottom and the smallest on top. Because of their fragility, a larger disk may never be placed on a smaller one, and there is only one intermediate location where disks can be temporarily placed. As they are so fragile, priests must move carefully and take their time. If each move takes approximately 5 minutes, how long until the tower is rebuilt on the new pylon?

OpenStudy (jack1):

note: tower of 1 disc = 1 move tower of 2 discs = 3 moves tower of 3 dicsc = 7 moves
