For the following equation: f(x)=2|x+2|+8 how do you know if the graph is wider, narrower, or the same width as the graph of y=|x|

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

I think it depends on the factor outside

OpenStudy (primeralph):

the slope (2) is greater than 1 as in the case of y = |x|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if the slope is bigger then 1, its wider, and if its smaller, then its narrower

OpenStudy (primeralph):

you are comparing two graphs. The one with the bigger slope is narrower.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so in this case, 2 is bigger than 1. therefore its narrower. righttttt

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okie

OpenStudy (primeralph):

medal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i give it to you. I barely use this site

OpenStudy (primeralph):
