I normally understand this but i just cant get it 1. A cargo ramp leads up to the side of a building. The bottom of the ramp is 100 feet from the base of the building and makes an angle of 4° with the ground. Answer each of the questions and show all your work. Q) Find AC. The approximate length of the ramp. round to the nearest 10th of a foot.
I'm pretty sure for these you have to use tangent, cosine or sine.... do you know the formulas?
Sine = Opposite / Hypotenuse Cosine = Adjacent / Hypotenuse Tangent = Opposite / Adjacent
draw your setup, should amount to a right triangle
Good so which one would we be using here? Think of it as a triangle
cos?
right so you just need to plug your lengths into the formula. cos4°=\[\frac{ x }{ 100 }\]
x=65.3?
Is this a mulitple choice question?
no
Ok hold on and I'll check the work
thank you
Ok explain to me how you got that cause I got a different answer.
OH! I see out mistake, we would use cos if we where looking so the length of the ramp. Here we are looking for height so it would use the sin formula :)
haha oh jeeze
Ok recalculate and let me know what you got :)
the question does ask for: the approximate length of the ramp.
Wait no is says length..
