How do you find area of base (B)

OpenStudy (phi):

is there more to this question ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it height times width?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the value of 7P5?

OpenStudy (phi):

the area of a rectangle or square is width*height base is not a figure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the formula I am using is SA = LA +2 * area of base B

OpenStudy (phi):

that is the formula for the surface area of something. what figure are you trying to find the surface area of ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rectangle

OpenStudy (phi):

are you sure it's not a 3-D shape ? like a box ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well yes it is I am suppose to find the surface area of a refrigerator with the height of 5' and the width of 3' feet

OpenStudy (phi):

and what is its "depth" (front to back)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

about 2 feet

OpenStudy (phi):

there are short cuts to figuring the surface area but the easiest way is find the area of each side and add them up |dw:1370284919010:dw| there are 6 sides: 4 "real sides" plus the top and bottom each "side" is a rectangle: its area is "length * height"
