You are listening to music in your room and you are asked to turn down the volume of your music. When you turn down the volume what will happen to the sound waves' amplitude?

Frequency doesn't change! If the frequency changed, the songs we love would only sound good at one volume setting. The amplitude of the wave changes, thereby decreasing the total energy of the wave but maintaining the proper frequency.
