when you are asked to calculte a current with out using terminals. what would you do

When just looking at a cross-section of a wire, the current through it is the number of electrons passing through it per second times -q = -e. You may look at the mobility of an electron within material and it's conductivity.

I'm not sure of any specific name, but realize it must measure a varying current in order to induce a current within it. Lab test may be able to do it by moving the meter but I've never seen any.
