Read the problem below and answer the questions. Walt bought 6 bagels and a tub of cream cheese for his family. The cream cheese cost $4.60 Altogether, Walt spent more than $11.50.. a. Let b represent the price of each bagel. Write a two-step inequality you could use to find b. b. Solve the inequality you wrote in part a. Show all the steps. c. Interpret the solution. What does the solution mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did walt spend more than?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you say walt spent more than . spent more than what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops. Ok ther I fixed it sorry :o :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so think of it this way if b represents the price of each bagel then\[6b + 4.60>11.50\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this basically says that 6 bagels and 1 cream chase cost more than 11.50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try to solve that do you know how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um is it 27.6b > 11.5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b > 5/12 sorry this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, pretend the > was like an equal Think 6b>11.5-4.60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 6b>6.9 now divide both sides by 6 what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 6b > 1.15 :?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get that? the original equation is 6b + 4.60 > 11.5 so your first step is to subtract 4.60 from both sides.
